Ralph Gleason
Meet Ralph - the inventive force behind our shop. A lifelong sailor and seasoned boater, he has faced (and fixed) almost every canvas-and-fabrication challenge on the water. Combining an engineer's precision with a designer's eye, Ralph turns concepts into sleek, user-friendly solutions.
Whether it's a custom Bimini top or seating with timeless, classy lines. When technical hurdles arise, he's the one who solves them, ensuring every product we deliver meets true marine-grade standards.

Stacie Gleason
Stacie's first love is community service, and her adventurous spirit carries over into everything she does at A1A Canvas.
She steers the business side-handling logistics, coordinating schedules, and keeping the crew organized —always with a smile and standout customer-service skills. When she isn't charting project timelines, you'll spot her in the shop or out on the water, jumping in on patterning and installations.

Our Story
Our story begins in Annapolis, MD, where we were deeply rooted in the vibrant Chesapeake sailing community. Determined to seize life's adventures, we took four months off to sail the Intracoastal Waterway to Key West and back. The journey tested our gear-torn sails, broken Bimini frames, sun-bleached canvas-and sparked our passion for crafting reliable marine protection.
The following summer, we set out again, this time crossing to the Bahamas. Each challenge at sea became a lesson in design and durability: when we needed a new dodger, we built one; when cushions were lost in a squall, we stitched replacements; when the sun demanded shade, we shaped a fresh Bimini.
By season's end, we knew Key West felt like home. We returned, dropped anchor for good, and founded A1A Canvas to share the craftsmanship and self-reliance we honed on those voyages. Today, every project we take on carries the same commitment to quality that kept us safe, comfortable, and proud of a job done right.
